Softball drops back-and-forth doubleheader vs Saint Anselm

The New Haven softball team hosted the Saint Anselm Hawks for the first of their two doubleheaders this weekend as they took on the Saint Anselm Hawks on Saturday. The Chargers dropped both games against the Hawks as they stretched their losing streak to four games.

Right-handed pitcher Breanna Kinney got the ball for New Haven in game one on Saturday, in which she struggled and gave up six runs on eight hits in just an inning and two thirds.

On Sunday, the New Haven softball team took on the Southern New Hampshire Penmen (SNHU) for their second doubleheader in as many days. The Chargers bounced back after a shutout loss in game one with a shutout win in game two to split the doubleheader against a strong Northeast-10 (NE-10) opponent.

After a split of a doubleheader on Friday against Bentley University, on Sunday, the New Haven softball team split another doubleheader against Assumption University in Worcester, Mass.

In game one, the Chargers managed just one hit off right-handed pitcher Kaelin Waldron. Pinch hitter Gianna Depino broke up the no-hitter in the top of the sixth inning with a single into center field, but was followed by a fielder’s choice and ended New Haven’s best scoring opportunity.

Softball drops non-conference doubleheader vs Caldwell

The New Haven softball team fought hard in their Wednesday double header at the team’s home opener against Caldwell University, but took two losses, 14-9 and 10-1.

Over spring break, the team played 10 games in five days in Winter Haven, Fla. and finished the trip winning just two of those games to begin the season with a record of 2-8.

The New Haven women’s lacrosse team concluded their weekend in Sparks, Md. on Sunday with their matchup against Seton Hill University. The Chargers forced overtime on the heels of a second half comeback in which they scored eight goals, but ultimately fell to the Griffins in a tight 13-12 game.
